Revitalization of all 11 small hydro power plants and introduction of modern technology has resulted in increase of electricity production from renewable sources by 50 percent in 2009, reads EVN Macedonia press release.

The average annual production of all 11 small hydro plants in the past decade amounted to 100 million kwh, whereas the 2009 output rose to 150 million kwh, which is a 50-percent increase from projections.

These achievements result from the investments in small hydro plants, enabling their capacity increase. All plants are remote-controlled through the SCADA system and networking Internet protocol, whereas their monitoring is conducted from a new dispatcher center, reads the press release.
