Tirana lobbies for recognition of Kosovo in Central America

Following the delivery of the ICJ advisory opinion on Kosovo, Tirana underlined that it has kept constant contact with the diplomats in the EU and the U.S. in an effort to secure new recognition of the state, which was unilaterally proclaimed by Albanians two years ago.
Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ilir Meta departed for a tour of visits in Central America where he will lobby for recognition of Kosovo's independence, the Albanian Telegraphic Agency (ATA) reported.
Meta will visit Guatemala, Salvador and Honduras and try to persuade the countries' officials to recognize Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence.
Meta's visit is part of the preparations for the UN General Assembly session on September 9, which is to discuss Serbia's draft resolution on Kosovo-Metohija submitted after the delivery of the advisory opinion of the ICJ.
After a meeting with a delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Albanian President Bamir Topi lobbied that Beijing should get involved in the campaign of the recognition of Kosovo.
