The Health authorities in Greece are on alert for the swine flu. Artemis plan has been put in effect, while the Health minister rejected the information released on swine flu cases in Greece.
"No swine flu case has hit Greece," said the minister, explaining that BBC's item of news created confusion because as per Commissioner A. Vasiliou's spokesman Greece is also under investigation.
Mr Avramopoulos also reported that four cases have been reported in Greece until now. The four people underwent check under their own initiative, two of which had been in Mexico. These cases have been checked and it has been proved that it is just a simple case of flu.
At the same time, the measures are intensifying and civilians are further informed on protection measures in other Greek airports too.
If necessary, Greece will be provided with special cameras that detect fever, one of the H1N1 symptoms. The cameras will be installed in Eleftherios Venizelos airport.
Health Ministry officials stress that as soon as the vaccine against the swine flu is prepared, Greece will acquire it immediately.
However, we already have sufficient quantities of ant-virus medicines that can contain the disease.
Information on the disease can be provided on 210 5212054, 210 5222339 on a 24-hour basis.
Scientists say that there is no danger from the consumption of pork and its byproducts. The virus cannot be transmitted through food; however, it is transmitted through moisture.
The measures taken by Greece are according to the instructions of the WHO and the EU.
