The head of the first international monitoring mission for the local elections in Kosovo on November 15 will be Macedonian Darko Aleksov with the non-governmental organization MOST, A1 television reports.

This will be Kosovo’s first local elections since it declared its independence last year. Kosovo is not a member of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and that’s why the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) is the only international mission that will observe the election process, A1 says.

MOST is one of 18 ENEMO members from 17 European countries.

120 short-term observers, six long-term teams of two members each and a coordinating team will be sent to Kosovo, said Aleksov.

Six regions in Kosovo will be covered.

According to the latest data of the Ljubljana-based International Institute for Middle East and Balkan Studies the biggest race for a mayoral post will take place in Pristina where one fourth of the Kosovan population is living.
