Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic warned on Thursday evening that certain terrorist groups and separatist leaders of Kosovo Albanians "often use southern Serbia as the necessary reserve force for generating instability in this region."

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic warned on Thursday evening that certain terrorist groups and separatist leaders of Kosovo Albanians "often use southern Serbia as the necessary reserve force for generating instability in this region."

Dacic said that "organized terrorist groups have been active for years" in southern Serbia, where a terorrist attack on a police patrol was carried out just after Wednesday midnight. Remnants of these groups still exist, the minister said.

"Our police and security forces have on repeated occasions discovered caches of arms and ammunition," the minister said, speaking for RTS.

The latest attack, in which two National Gendarmerie members were wounded, "is a classic terrorist attack, because an attack using a hand-held grenade launcher cannot be called an ordinary criminal act," Dacic said.

Policeman Nenad Nikolic was gravely wounded and policeman Milos Carovic sustained a minor wound in this terrorist attack, the third in the last two years, in Lucani village near Bujanovac in the early hours of Thursday.

MP and leader of the Party of Democratic Action Riza Haljimi has judged the last attack on the members of Gendarmerie in Lucane village, pointing out that he has no knowledge whatsoever of the presence of any illegal groups in the area, particularly not the terrorist ones.

Haljimi told that he is outraged with the fact that something like this happened, reiterating that this is not the first time, and that four years ago an Albanian woman was killed at the very same site and that her murder was never resolved.

I have been monitoring the situation in the south of Serbia for a very long time, and I have no information that any illegal terrorist groups operate in the area, Haljimi stated.

I am surprised with the fact that the first official statements of Belgrade evaluated that this was a terrorist act and that it was carried out by illegal groups, he underscored.
