Jelko Kacin supports pride parade in Belgrade

A member of the European Parliament and its rapporteur for Serbia, Jelko Kacin, supported on Thursday the organization of the Pride Parade which is due to take place in Belgrade on September 20.

A member of the European Parliament and its rapporteur for Serbia, Jelko Kacin, supported on Thursday the organization of the Pride Parade which is due to take place in Belgrade on September 20.

In his letter of support, Kacin said that one of the crucial European values, which the large family of EU peoples rests upon, is the protection from any form of discrimination.

"I strongly believe that on its road to full-fledged EU membership Serbia has to pass an important exam in democracy, by providing all the necessary conditions so that such an event be realized without any provocations or incidents whatsoever," Kacin underscored

. The right to sexual orientation is a fundamental human right and therefore also the right of all the people in Serbia, Kacin's office in Ljubljana said in a statement, pointing out that all the inhabitants of Serbia, regardless of their sexual or any other orientation, must be granted equal rights.
